Copper Canyon – Northern Mexico
Over the last couple of years we have been working in a very
remote part of Copper Canyon to bring the gospel to the
Tarahumara people. This work includes prayer, food and clothing
distribution, medical assistance, and continued work on the
facilities (school buildings, dormitories, livestock pens). The
school feeds, clothes, and houses 70-80 students and teaches
them basic education (reading, writing, math, etc.) as well as
God. Much work lies ahead to complete this outreach site, in
addition to preparing for the next site which will be deeper in
the canyon. These trips blend strenuous work in difficult
conditions with an amazing opportunity to love on a bunch of
awesome kids and their families, all with the aim of spreading
the love and gospel of Jesus further into the darkness.

Tres Rios Mexico 2011 trips
Family Friendly ministries in the beautiful mountains of Mexico!
Cost - $595
Date - September 3-17 , 2011 -- 16
team member maximum
Tres Rios is a village of
approximately 1,000 people nestled in the pine-covered
mountains of northwestern Mexico, at about 6,000 ft
elevation. A small Alliance church was started in Tres
Rios 30 years ago, but there has never been a full-time
pastor there and the church struggles to remain alive in
this remote location. In fact, they have asked for our
help to re-vitalize the church through evangelization,
discipleship, and teaching them to seek out the
thousands of un-reached Indians who live in the
surrounding mountains and canyons. There is a great
need for the Gospel of Christ to be established in this
village.

Our mission to Tres Rios will take us across difficult
and dangerous 4-wheel drive roads through rugged
mountains and across rivers. Those who choose to be a
part of this team will have an opportunity to live in a
remote Mexican village with huge spiritual needs. We
will sleep in sleeping bags in tents or on cement
floors. There will be water available, intermittent
electricity, and perhaps even a shower! Outhouses are
standard operating procedure in Tres Rios. Weather will
be unpredictable: it may be cold and wet or hot and
dry. We will have great opportunities to learn to love
and serve our Lord by loving and serving His people,
those on the team and those in the village. The team
will need to be flexible, willing to serve, and
teachable. (Hiking is not required). We will use
several approaches to evangelize and disciple children,
teens and adults. We will use games, music, VBS-type
activities, men’s and women’s classes, door-to-door
visitation, sports, movies, etc. There will be a small
work project also. |
